What is it?

Installation is a two person job, one person will have to help to lift the TV and place it once the installation of the mount is complete. A kit will come with step by step instructions for installation. A power drill will be useful in the process as will a stud finder.

What To Look For In Plasma TV Wall Mounts

One of the great advantages of the modern TV screen is that many of the newer technologies employ display methods that allow the TV screen to be very thin by past TV standards. This makes having a large screen TV much more practical, especially in rooms where space is at a premium. Older large screen televisions that used CRT monitors were very large, bulky pieces of equipment that only the most spacious rooms could accommodate. You can usually find that weight specification in the user manual or even on the box that it comes in. If for any reason, the wall mount fails you can wind up with a very expensive piece of equipment on the floor pretty much destroyed. If you can, it's good to get a wall mount that is specifically made for your TV model, but there are also good universal mounts available. It used to be that the only wall mounts you could get for most televisions were a set of metal brackets that mounted to the wall and the TV hung on those brackets. While very sturdy, it did not allow any movement or repositioning of the TV, so today, you can find flexible wall mount units that actually let you extend the TV from the wall and turn it to adjust the viewing angle too. Just bear in mind, that with every flexible joint in the mounting system, there is more chance that something can go wrong. So buy extra heavy-duty in this particular area.

TV Frames For Wall Mounted Flat Panel TVs

Many people ask how to provide a more decorative frame around their wall mounted flat-panel TV in order to better match their home furnishings. While a custom cabinet maker can integrate your TV with a built-in bookcase or cabinetry, many people are looking to frame a TV that is already mounted to the wall.

The first consideration is the actual mounting hardware. The main choice in TV mounting brackets is between a low profile (thin) mount, and an articulating or tilt mount. The articulating mounts allow you to tilt the TV and change the viewing angle, but typically require the TV to stick out further from the wall and can be more expensive than low profile mounts. Although either will work with a frame, the low profile mounts are usually best for TV frames, since these mounts allow the TV to be closer to the wall and make the framed TV appear to be more like framed artwork.

The next frequently asked question regards how much of the front and side of the TV are (or should be) covered by the frame. Many assume that the entire side of the TV should be covered all the way to the wall, so that none of the mounting hardware is visible. Actually, the frame should not be flush with the wall to allow adequate ventilation for the TV (particularly for plasma TVs, which can generate significant heat). Even if a gap is present, the mounting hardware will usually not be visible from most angles.

Since wall mounted TVs are usually not concealed by cabinetry or other furniture, many people want to place a "2-way mirror" in front of the TV screen, so that when the TV is off, it appears to be a framed mirror, but when turned on, the TV image is visible through the mirror. Although this solution can create a beautiful framed mirror when the TV is off, "2-way" glass or acrylic can significantly alter the contrast of the TV and make it appear more "washed out." Because of this, TV mirrors are typically not recommended unless the customer has a sample of the mirror, and has seen what the TV will look like when viewed through it.

Some manufacturers use a standard frame for all TVs (or the same frame for all 40-46 inch TVs, for example) that will not precisely fit your particular TV model. There may be some gaps between the frame and the edge of the TV on either side or the top or bottom. This can look odd, and may only partially conceal the logos, border, or speakers of the TV.

Alternately, some manufacturers will custom cut a frame and mat to your specific TV model number, so the frame exactly fits the dimensions of your television. The mat should allow the sound from any built in speakers and the remote control signal to pass through. A TV Frame is a great option for turning your TV into a work of art.

Keep It Clean

Tria 1 is a single-shelf, do-it-yourself solution that allows you to neatly organize components right under your flat panel without the need to run the connections through your wall. Tria 1 is designed with covers that easily snap on to the spine, for routing and concealing wires.

The Tria 1 is constructed using 6mm tempered glass, and supports up to 30 lbs (13.6 kg). It's fully adjustable at one-inch increments, to get it set just where you need it, and is also compatible with OmniMount's Tria 2.

Customize It

The Tria 1 features paintable, trimmable covers make them customizable for any application. It can also be used with or without a flat panel, of course.

If you are not hiring a professional and confident that you can fix it, the following are the steps to install wall mount for your flat screen Plasma TV.

o Find studs in the wall
Once you select the suitable wall mount and the exact location of the wall mount on the wall, you need to find the studs in that wall location. It is very important that the mount is securely fixed to a stud. Find the center of the stud for the best results. You can easily find the studs in the wall using a stud finder.

o Drill into the wall
Mark the center of the stud with pencil on the wall. Ensure the mounting bracket locations are level and that the height is appropriate by using a cardboard of the size of the flat TV. Once you are sure that the correct markings are made, drill in to the markings on the studs. Make sure two or three times before drilling into the wall for the correct levels.

o Attach the mount and drill for the cables
After exactly drilling into the studs, attach the mount to the wall with the screws. Double check to ensure that the wall mount is level. Drill a hole behind the bracket to hide the wiring. Once it is done pull the cables through the wall. If you don't want to drill again, use tapes and other tools to hide the cables.

o Attach the Flat TV
Once you are done with the wiring, the last step is to fix the TV set to the wall mount. As flat TV is often heavy, you need another person to hold it at least for few minutes. It's a good idea to attach all of the cables to the TV before fixing it to the mount. Otherwise, it is difficult to connect the cords with insufficient space between the wall and the TV. You will not have this problem if you have swivel & tilt TV wall mount.

Once you finish the above step, you are successfully done with fixing the wall mount for your flat screen plasma TV. Enjoy the wall mounted flat screen TV that adds beauty and elegance to your living room and gives you a great entertainment experience.
